Killinghall C.E. Primary School

Each half term, we hold our Jobs Week. All children have the opportunity to apply for a variety of responsibilities around the school, such as librarian, table head, play leader, and other important roles. By carrying out their jobs responsibly, they earn Responsibility Coins which contribute towards their House Points, encouraging teamwork and motivating each house to work together towards a shared goal.

Children from Year 1 - Year 6 persuade their classmates to vote for them by presenting in a variety of ways. Some children give speeches, others share posters. Two children from each class are voted in to represent each class for the year. The councillors meet regularly, discussing how to improve our school. They make a positive difference outside of school too, by coming up with ways to raise money for charities such as Children in Need and St Michael's Hospice.

Our Planet Protectors are children from Year 1 - Year 6 who are passionate about the environment. Children persuade their classmates to vote for them by presenting in a variety of ways. Some children give speeches, others share posters. Two children from each class are voted in to represent each class for the year. The Planet Protectors create a climate change action plan and review this regularly. They lead assemblies to educate children, and arrange initiatives in school, such as recycling schemes and the promotion of active travel to and from school.

Our Collective Worship Committee is responsible for setting up Collective Worship each day. They regularly help to lead Collective Worship and present certificates in our Friday Praise Assembly. They look at ways to improve Collective Worship, select new hymns to learn, create prayers and contribute to our policy. This is a job that can be applied for termly.

We have four houses in our school. These are Ruby, Topaz, Emerald and Sapphire. These are precious stones that sparkle and shine, just like our school vision! Our Year 6 House Captains are role models who lead and support their house, encouraging teamwork, excellence and participation in school activities. They help organise events and represent their house with pride and responsibility. House Captains are appointed for the year.

Play Leaders help children enjoy positive, active and inclusive playtimes by organising games and activities. They are role models who encourage teamwork, kindness and fair play. Our Play Leaders work with Mrs Rushworth to develop leadership skills, set up games at break times and organise different activities. They also come up with new ideas and learn to manage a budget when selecting new equipment. This is a job that can be applied for termly.
