PE & Sports Premium
The PE and Sport Premium provides additional funding to improve the quality and sustainability of PE, physical activity and sport in primary schools. At Killinghall CE Primary School, we use this funding to give every child opportunities to be active, develop physical skills and confidence, and enjoy a broad range of sporting experiences. Our priorities include improving the quality of PE teaching, increasing participation, supporting less-active pupils, and providing opportunities for competition, leadership and teamwork. We review the impact of the funding regularly to ensure it makes a lasting difference to our pupils and supports healthy, active lifestyles.
The impact of the funding is carefully evaluated to ensure it improves pupils’ engagement, enjoyment and standards in sport. In line with Ofsted expectations, Governors challenge school leaders on the effective deployment of staff and resources and monitor the impact of the Sports Premium.
May 2026 update: The PE and Sport Premium, introduced in 2013, is being phased out, with direct school funding ending as the new PE and School Sport Partnerships Network is introduced. This change could affect the range of sporting opportunities schools are able to provide, particularly where funding has supported competitions, clubs and specialist provision. The Government has committed significant investment to a new partnership model, including a £100 million transition payment for primary schools, with the new network expected to be fully operational from Spring 2027. We will continue to monitor these changes and make the most of the opportunities available to ensure our pupils remain active and have access to a broad range of sporting experiences.
