Educational visits are an exciting part of life at Killinghall CE Primary School, giving children opportunities to learn, explore and make memories beyond the classroom. Our educational visits are carefully linked to the children’s learning and personal development. Educational visits help bring learning to life through real-world experiences, while also developing children’s independence, confidence, teamwork and social skills. Residentials are particularly valuable in encouraging children to step outside their comfort zones, build positive relationships and develop resilience. These experiences create lasting memories and support children’s personal, social and academic development.

Reception children enjoy hands-on experiences at the farm, bringing their learning about animals and the natural world to life. In Key Stage 1, children can look forward to an exciting animal workshop and space-themed visit, inspiring their curiosity about the universe and beyond. They experience the magic of the theatre as well as stepping back in time with a visit to a castle, bringing their learning to life through memorable, real-world experiences. These visits help develop confidence, independence and a lifelong love of learning.

As children move into Key Stage 2, our educational visits become even more adventurous, exciting and memorable. Children enjoy a range of experiences linked closely to their learning, including exploring Viking history at JORVIK and DIG, alongside visits that bring history and the wider curriculum to life. A particular highlight is the opportunity to take part in overnight residentials in Year 4 and Year 6, with adventurous experiences at places such as Bewerley Park and Newby Whiske PGL. These residentials encourage children to challenge themselves, develop independence and resilience, strengthen friendships and create memories that will stay with them long after they leave primary school.
