On November 4th 2016 the first Children's Voice in North Yorkshire was held. Killinghall was the lead school for the conference with the Headteacher and four KS2 pupils working alongside NYCC Participation Service to organise the event for 200 children and 50 adults.
The day was aimed at ensuring that children in North Yorkshire have a voice and know that they are able to get involved in a wide range of activities both in and out of school that mean they can make a difference.

Killinghall children were involved in publicising the day by going to Strayfm to be interviewed.
The day involved keynote speakers, including our children and other children from with our HART Alliance ambassador group, along with the paralympian Kadeena Cox. There were also numerous workshops; Killinghall children attended a refugee workshop, a hot seating activity and a session on how they feel about growing up in North Yorkshire.

They were very proud of themselves as they delivered their own speech to over 250 delegates with the aim of encouraging the children 'to have a voice and make a difference.'
