A word of welcome from the Headteacher - Mrs Sarah Bassitt

Whether you are just beginning to think about your child’s education or whether your child is already a part of the Killinghall Church of England Primary School community, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our school. We hope that you will find our website interesting and informative. We are a small, very friendly school with approximately 100 pupils. We have a hard working and enthusiastic staff team who place the individual needs of the children at the centre of their thoughts and actions.

Our school is rated by Ofsted as a good school that is rapidly improving, with outstanding behaviour and excellent Spiritual, Moral, Social, Cultural education. The recent success of our school is based upon the strong partnerships that we have developed with pupils, parents, governors and the whole local community. Our School is a full strategic member of the Harrogate and Rural Teaching School Alliance - a group of local  schools who work collaboratively to improve outcomes for children.  As a school we believe in developing a self-improving, self-sustaining school system to ensure that all our stakeholders realise their potential, and in turn create exciting opportunities and positive results for our children.

We have developed a new curriculum for September 2014. We  believe in a curriculum that inspires and broadens children’s experiences and passion for learning. This belief drives what happens at our school. We are dedicated to ensuring that the children develop a real love of learning. We believe that we have a duty to help every child to become a rounded individual who is able to play their full part within an ever changing society. We were one of the schools involved in the local region in implementing the London Institute of Education and RSA 'Grand Curriculum Designs Programme.' We have based our new curriculum on the philosophies of the RSA. Staff, parents, pupils, governors, and the Killinghall community were involved in the development of our curriculum.

Our approach to education is holistic; we are concerned for the whole child – mind, body and spirit. We offer an exciting and challenging education for all. SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural) is threaded through all curriculum areas, activities and collective worship.

We celebrate our pupils’ achievements in all areas and recognise that every individual has different strengths and talents. We encourage positive attitudes towards learning and behaviour, setting high aspirations and challenging every child to be the best that they can be.

The staff, governors and pupils are all proud to be a part of Killinghall Church of England Primary School and work hard to make it the special place it is. Visitors to school often remark on the caring and friendly atmosphere within it, and praise our children for their knowledge, manners and supportive attitude towards each other.

If you wish to visit or simply require further information about the school please ring the school office on 01423 506307 during normal school hours.
